Choosing a Contractor

  • Determine that the¬†siding contractor¬†is licensed and has insurance.
  • Get references from past customers of any siding contractor and be sure to check them.
  • Make sure the siding contractor presents a contract that includes hauling away any old material and scrap and provides for complete site cleanup after the job is finished.
  • Make sure that you’ll receive both a product warranty from the manufacturer and an installation warranty from the siding contractor covering workmanship.
  • Decide in advanced how the siding contractor will trim around windows and doors and how corners will be finished. Ask to see your options.
  • Ask for specific maintenance instructions to keep your siding and windows looking like new.
  • Be sure you know who to call if there is ever a problem with your siding or its installation.
  • Ask for third party certifications of product quality, such as the Good Housekeeping Seal, the Underwriters Laboratories logo, and the NFRC logo.
  • Call the Better Business Bureau to find out if there have been any complaints about the siding contractor you’re interested in.
  • Be sure that the siding contractor has an actual, physical place of business.
  • Call the siding contractor and find out how many years they have been in business.
